Like anyone over a certain age, I had heard years ago about Ross Perot rescuing his employees from Iran. I'd wondered from time to time how he was able to pull that off. Especially since our government was unable to get its own hostages out of there for over 400 days. I had mentioned it to someone and they told me that there was a book that told the story, something about Eagles.The next time it crossed my mind I searched on Amazon and found that the book had been a big best-seller. I ordered it and could not put it down. I read it in 2 sittings, which is unprecedented for me. I am usually to busy to read at all, but I put everything aside once I got started on the book. Once I finished, my wife read it and enjoyed it every bit as much.The quite literally incredible events and getting to know the personalities and insights of all the people involved, including the employees and wives at home, pulled you into the action and emotion.The book has been around quite a while, but still a very exciting read. Even if it's now history rather than recent current events as originally published. In fact, I would expect that if the book had been a work of fiction, it would have been every bit as exciting a story. But it being a true event, with real people amplifies the excitement for me. I had 1st read this book in jail and there was something Ross Perot says that I thought was brilliant. By the time I was released, rejoining society, & getting back on track, I completely forgot what words he used. So besides this book being a true, heroic story of a patriotic mission, the words I sought are now words I recite to myself when making a decision. If you want to know, you gotta read the book.
